Marketing Window shows ads that platforms publish in their public ad libraries, as a research archive. Each ad links to its source. If you own an ad shown here, or you appear in one, you can ask us to remove it. This page explains who can ask, how to ask and what happens next. You don't need a lawyer to use it.
Who can request
- Rights holders. People or companies who own the copyright or trademarks in an ad. That can be the brand, its agency, or a photographer, illustrator, composer or other creator whose work is in the ad.
- Advertisers. Brands that want an ad, or their whole brand page, removed. You can also ask us to stop adding new ads from your brand.
- People shown in ads. Anyone who can be recognised in an ad, by their face, voice or name. That includes models, creators, presenters and spokespeople.
- Representatives. Lawyers, agencies or managers acting for any of the above.
We may ask for reasonable proof of your identity, or that you're allowed to act for the person or company involved. We only use this to handle your request.
How to request
The easiest way is to email support@marketingwindow.com. You can also write to us through our contact form. Please include:
- your name, your organisation (if any) and how to contact you
- the web address of each ad or brand page on Marketing Window that your request covers
- how you're connected to the ad, for example as the owner, the advertiser, a person shown in it or a representative
- what you'd like us to do, such as remove specific ads, remove a brand page or stop collecting new ads from a brand
- your reason: for copyright or trademarks, identify the work or mark; for privacy, tell us which ads show you
- a statement that the information in your request is accurate, and that you're the rights holder, the person shown, or authorised to act for them
- your full name, typed, as your signature
Notices under US copyright law. If you're sending a notice under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, please include the details it requires. That includes a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised by the owner, its agent or the law, and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you're authorised to act for the owner. We'll handle your notice under that process.
Please only send accurate requests. Knowingly making a false claim can have legal consequences.
What happens next
- We acknowledge your request. We'll confirm we've received it and tell you if we need anything else.
- We remove within two business days. Once we have a complete request, we take the ads or brand page down from our public pages and the app within two business days while we review it.
- We review it. If the request is valid, the removal stays. For brand requests, we can also block the brand so new ads aren't added. If the request isn't valid, for example because the sender has no connection to the ad, we may restore the content and explain why.
- We keep a record. We keep a record of every request: who made it, what it covered, what we did and when. This helps us handle counter-notices and spot repeat problems.
- We tell others where needed. If the content was added by one of our users, we may tell them it was removed and share a copy of your request with them.
Removing an ad from Marketing Window doesn't remove it from the platform's own ad library. To do that, please contact Meta, TikTok, Google or LinkedIn directly.
Counter-notices
If content was removed and you think that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to support@marketingwindow.com. For example, you might be the advertiser and believe the request came from someone without rights in the ad, or a user whose content was removed. Please include:
- your name and contact details
- the content that was removed, and where it appeared
- why you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentified
- a statement that the information in your counter-notice is accurate
- your full name, typed, as your signature
For copyright counter-notices under US law, please also include the statements that law requires.
We'll review your counter-notice and may share a copy with the person who made the original request. We may then restore the content, unless they tell us they've started legal action. For requests from people shown in ads, we'll weigh their privacy carefully before restoring anything.
Repeat infringers
- We close the accounts of users who repeatedly upload or share material that infringes other people's rights, where it's appropriate to do so.
- Brand blocks stay in place unless the brand asks us to lift them.
- We use our records of past requests to spot and deal with repeated problems.
The acceptable use section of our terms explains what users can and can't upload or share, and our privacy policy explains how we handle ad data and the rights of people who appear in ads.
